Games with Gold

Started playing through Child of Light on tb's One as I played it on the PS3 first time round, so happy with that. Nothing else up there particularly grabs me, tbh.

+1 for the not-particularly-impressed gang.
I'm not saying the games are bad, per se, but the way the whole 'big giveaway to celebrate a million downloads!!!!1!' was advertised, I was expecting more this month, tentatively expecting one of the big games from X1 release day to make it (probably DR3 or Forza, as I already have them, but hoping for Ryse).

Child of Light looks interesting, even though I'm not a fan of turn-based RPGs, so will probably grab that one. Pool? Meh. Unless it's a case of 1,000GS in a couple of hours, I probably won't even bother downloading it.
My son might be happy to get a few extra friends playing Terraria, as he seems to have become addicted to it lately, but everything else on 360 has an 18+ rating, I think.

Child of Light is really good - if you don't mind a side scrolling, turn based RPG affair. It's a beautiful game, with a touching story, it's cleverly written (all the narrative rhymes, which sounds like it should be annoying but it really isn't) and it plays really well. For free you really can't go wrong.

Already own the GoW one, still cba to finish it as it bores the tits off me.

I'd like to play Terraria, but a shame it's the 360 version.

MS are really scraping the barrel. Think it's about time we started seeing some launch titles given away, isn't it? Ryse, DR3. Even Titanfall, I'm surprised it hasn't been given away already to be honest with the amount of times it's been on sale for £10.

Going purely be retail prices right now, Castlestorm can be picked up for 12 pounds from the xbox store. For some reason the Microsoft website only sells Titanfall in the deluxe bundle right now, so the cheapest I can find elsewhere is 15 pounds at Game (Im not at the Xbox one clearly so cant comment on the price there).

Interestingly, child of light is also 12 pounds. Looks like that may be the 'free option' pricepoint.

They are really poor choices on both consoles. I enjoyed Mafia II at the time but even then it wasn't nearly as fleshed out as GTA IV. I would be surprised if it's stood the test of time today. And F1 2013? That's like offering an old FIFA. People buy the new titles because they want the most recent line ups and teams. I've not even heard of the Xbox One offering but it does seem a bit disappointing.

I'm sure some people will enjoy the offerings and they are free after all but for me, nothing sticks out this month
